Better posture is better for your body but it’s also better for your mind too. See our post last week on how good posture improves your mood, productivity, and confidence.

Perfect posture takes practice and it may seem unnatural at first.  According to Harvard Health and the MayoClinic, these are the most important things to keep in mind:

  • chin parallel to the floor
  • even shoulders
  • neutral spine
  • arms at your sides
  • abdominal muscles braced
  • hips even

When you’re standing, there are a few more tips you’ll have to keep in mind:

  • head level and in line with your body
  • knees even and pointing straight ahead
  • neutral knees, not locked knees
  • feet shoulder-width apart
  • body weight distributed evenly on both feet

When you’re sitting, keep these additional bullet in mind points instead:

  • buttocks at the back of your chair
  • knees at a 90 degree angle with the floor
  • shoulders, hips, and knees at even heights
  • knees and feet pointing straight ahead
  • feet flat on the floor
