Career Advice

What is the recipe for success? Some would argue a simple answer — a strict routine with a pinch of dedication. The answer isn’t the same for everyone, but there are a few mantras that can help even the most uninspired feel rejuvenated. Here are three ways you can take a step toward success:

1. Get up early.
You’ve heard this one before. But if you can get up before your family, you can plan you day and maybe even get a few things done without distraction. If you’re having a hard time squeezing a work out in at night, think about how much easier it would be in the morning.

2. Take breaks.
No one can be “on” 24/7. Incorporate time to recharge into your life. It might be as simple as afternoon walks or as drastic as “unplugged” weekends — can you imagine a full Saturday and Sunday without touching the computer?

3. Ask questions.
Whether it’s about your current project, your current position, your company, or your life — stop and take some reflection. Ask the tough questions. Don’t be afraid to look at an old problem from a new angle. You might be surprised at what you discover.
